Why do Brits have a problem w/ diversity?
Serious discussion and no offense to all tha fellow Britons on ATRL but this is just based on a general observation.
Examples such as these make me wonder why teh (White) Brits are so opposed to diversity and multi-culturism in their society. This is probably only a minority in the UK but generally, there seems to be more of a prevalence of people that are opposed to people coming into their country and using their facilities/services/etcetc. (This is my perspective, one side of the story - argue yours) Out of all the big 4 Anglophone powerhouses (US, UK, CA & AU), are the UK the most preserved with themselves, are they the least welcoming?

Word of advice. Never take anything the Daily Mail says seriously. It does not represent the views of the average Brit. In fact it's pretty much ridiculed in the UK, and it's embarrassing to admit that you read that newspaper.
The main UK cities London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds etc. are the definition of multi-cultural. The only places I'd agree might be true are those silly country villages with like four houses and one shop or those stuck up country towns who think "English life" should be preserved.
In all the cities I wouldn't say there's a problem with diversity at all. Racism exists everywhere around the world, but in the cities, especially London with tourists, immigrants, workers etc. it's hard to avoid diversity.

The daily mail and it's readers hate diversity, they hate gays, they hate women, they basically hate anyone who isn't a 40 year old white male. It's not really that big an issue for normal people here, the only people who seem to have a problem with it are chavs or uneducated people.

That is just a news website everybody on ATRL is familiar with and that is only one of many unfortunate examples. I'm not disagreeing or agreeing with you and the main point isn't that fact that a said city/region is diverse/multi-cultural, it's the amount of people that are strongly opposed to it. Again, a generalisation but I'm just saying this seems (to me) like a bigger problem in the UK than any of the other 4 countries I've mentioned above. Surely the US and UK could be interchangeable when it comes to this to some, but yeah for me personally, UK seems to be more reserved.

The article you linked is a bit redundant, really?
It makes no concrete conclusions. Just a completely random racist implication.
The actual facts in that article only reinforce that London is probably the most diverse city in the world.
To answer the question, well, immigration is quite high in the UK. As a result people get pissed that non-British people are doing the jobs that working class British people are of course too lazy to do. It's a joke tbh.

We get a lot of free stuff, and (amazingly) people realise that and don't think that other people living here deserve that. It's mostly just prejudice here, where people don't like the idea of the non-(white)british 'taking' our jobs and think none of them pay taxes.
Ignorance, basically.

That's what people from Britain are called.
It's Daily Mail: conservative, middle-aged, white. What do you expect?

The US is way more intolerant than the UK. I mean they are moaning about that NBA guy kissing his boyfriend for like 1 second when there is full on gay making out shown on British soaps all the time.
Australia is the worst of them all for acceptance. I'd say the UK is actually the most tolerant, then Canada. Plus because the UK is next to Europe, it's slightly more open to new cultures than the US and AUS.
And sis, just because DM is familiar on ATRL it doesn't help your point. People would appreciate reliable sources over dramatic and overblown BS from a Nazi supporting newspaper.

Daily Mail isn't a newspaper, its barely even a tabloid, its a pamphlet of hysterical hearsay
UK is one of the most diverse, multi-cultural, liberal and accepting countries in the world

Okay, let's not discriminate too much here.
We aren't all "disgusting racists".

I'm white, british, I grew up in Hackney, where only 1/3 people are white. Multiculturalism is amazing, our society is actually incredibly well integrated

Its not just Brits. I remember reading this paper in my Intro To Education class and one of the studies said that when the population threshhold of non-whties exceeds a certain point, it causes the White population to start moving out. Anyways we actually had a discussion on this before in another thread on ATRL

You cant take a look because a certain member sort of exemplifies what you are talking about. You can decide who it is.
