I never liked the ARTPOP title from the moment she announced it. I kinda liked the idea of POPTRA, but naming something that's already arbitrarily used as a label for a genre is such an ill concept. It would be like Usher naming his album SLIGHTLY URBAN-POP CROSSOVER SONGS. She dun goofed when she threw away the princess/decay concept because Princess Die is lyrically superior to 99% of ARTPOP.

She hasn't though. That's the annoying thing. You don't suck up negativity by posting rants on twitter about being compared to Katy, you don't always criticise the haters and make asinine comments like 'would you critic a musician if you yourself were not a musician'.
The best retaliation against negativity is to make your haters even madder. She whinged like I never believed she could this era, mainly because in 2010 she wouldn't even respond to or openly acknowledge criticism.

she has though , and I was talking about the backlash and negative media attention she has been getting since the BTW album , she kind of endured it back then because she was still having success commercially , and it just gotten into her lately with ARTPOP because she's cornered from every direction with hate , I would have had a breakdown to be honest

What bothered me about it was how 99% of ARTPOP had nothing to do with ARTPOP She should have just tagged the genre on the itunes thing and called the genre ARTPOP instead of actually naming the whole album that and yessss praise Princess Die

To be honest, I think that to deal with it she over indulged in drugs. She mentioned that through most of BTW-BTWB she was high or doing seriously stupid **** like getting her lips bigger and stuff too. (on the Howard Stern interview). I truly don't have a problem with her talking back to the critics, I just don't think she went about it the right way. And to be fair, unless any of us are in that position I don't think it's fair to say how we would handle it either. It's not easy, it doesn't look easy, and I'm sure it isn't easy.

Tbh I think she was one step short of going into a full fledged breakdown (or maybe even did behind the scenes) toward late November onwards. The sad performance at Alan Carr, her timid and shy behavior during the Voice, her bitterness on Christmas, and that flying chicken demon she drew. I'm so happy she's in a better place tbh.

SMH @ some of y'all. I'd rather her be angry than "scared". To me, scared = desperately chasing a hit, working with Mike Will Made It or whoever's the ~hot producer atm, fighting for Sia's leftovers etc. That would just be a sad. Rage is a far better motivator IMO, I doubt Kanye would've made MBDTF if he hadn't been had such a difficult year of public backlash beforehand. Britney's Blackout is also a good example.

At the very least, she needs to drop this artpop ****, bring back RedOne and work with some producers who know how to make music that's in line and even ahead of the current trends. If she can make some huge hits and an album that actually stands for something, she can easily bring back that confident I'm the Queen of Pop attitude and people would actually get back on board.
The ARTPOP era has shown that without the hits and the success, the exact opposite happens: people think she's try-hard and the haters have a field day.
