Since you have to buy the new consoles and the new games so you can play online. All the old games you had are worthless for online playing now.
So this is just a big fat "**** you" to everyone that just bought the games at normal price without discounts, because even Mario Kart was sold like if it was just released in some places.
Nintendo did us wrong this time, that their servers or whatever were bought by someone else and are shutting them down is not excuse, if they cared they could've done something. This is just a fiasco.

You're acting like the games you have are useless without online play. It's not like you're playing Call of Duty or something... And, yes, it's still upgrading. Nobody was playing most of those games online to begin with, and they certainly won't be playing them if they get a Wii U. You have to make the transition sooner or later...
If Sony or Microsoft decided to cut the online capability from their previous systems, there'd be more reason to rage because they're still making games for the systems and most of them can't survive without online. Nintendo has moved on, and it's time for their consumers to, too. You still can play the games you have, you still keep your Wiimotes/system, and most of the games are still enjoyable. You don't have to buy the thing now, they're not forcing you.
If you're this loner who has no friends or family members to play with, then it really is the end of your gaming life, but if you can play with yourself, thoroughly enjoy playing with yourself, and have little need for that miniscule social activity, then you'll be fine up to the next price drop. The system is going on two years, while the Wii had eight; it's time to let go or stay bitter. Your choice.
