With Dark Horse apparently peaking or having peaked at Urban Radio (a couple of weeks quicker than I thought), Perry may sneak one more week in the Top Ten of the Hot 100 with Dark Horse, but just like "Royals", once Urban began moving away from the song, the track's downward momentum increased. Dark Horse also took a bit of a hit on last weeks Digital Songs Chart too.
Once older songs are in the 30s and 40s, their chart lifes are usually getting extended thanks to play at Adult Contemporary. In Perry's and Lorde's unusual Pop to Urban crossover accomplishment, the tracks had their stays lengthened while still within the Top Ten. And of course, Royals is now hanging around in the 40s on the Hot 100 because, you guessed it, Adult Contemporary keeps playing the song. Dark Horse is now slowing catching on at AC, so the rate of drop will slow again once it gets below 35.
Another note: Even though the song stalled in the lower Top Ten on the Adult Contemporary Chart, AC airplay probably kept Blurred Lines on the Hot 100 probably eight weeks longer than had the song received no AC support. The song was unranked on the Digital Songs and barely on the Streaming Charts the last two months Thicke kept the song on the Hot 100.
