Many people in Scotland believe that their country should exist independently of the United Kingdom and be able to govern itself without the influence of England. Is this a good idea and how would Scotland benefit from separation from Britain?

OT: I think it's a bad idea, especially due to the companies that have bases serving the UK from Scotland (Sky, for example) which will result in the loss of jobs in those areas as the companies will move out.

They'll have to join the queue to enter the EU... There are other countries first. Plus there are some European countries with separatist areas that wouldn't see it right. Spain, Italy, France or Belgium come to mind.

The process to admit new countries is not exactly quick, it's the opposite... And if one of the big countries don't want you in then your chances are nearly 0. Look at Turkey and how France is stoppung any process of them being part of the EU. How many years has Turkey been after it? 10 years? And it doesn't look it will happen soon.

If Scotland leaves it'll just be England & Wales and that's hardly an impressive union of countries

Part of me wants Scottish independence to happen so y'all get your own currency that fails Zimbabwe-style.

If she were to leave the UK nothing would change. Scotland would still have to keep ha trade links with the UK, so pretty much everything would be the same. In conclusion it would be pointless and make no difference, so let ha go if she wants.

Yeah basically this. All 28 countries should give a permission for Scotland to join also it should oblige to change currency to Euro at some point. But even joining would be a problem. I read somewhere that Spain already said something about how they won't allow it
