Cher Lloyd - Sorry I'm Late
I went to my niece's 8th grade promotion and it took forever! I thought it was going to be fast, but no they decided to go through all their little awards and it was a class of 200+ students.

This is exactly the kind of discussion that dominates ATRL, but ultimately adds so little. It's all one-word answers and flamebait, with little substance and even less lasting impact. I really wish we could raise the level of discourse across the site and engage in real conversations about music, because for a bunch of obsessive pop fans, we don't seem to have much interest in anything other than praising our faves and shading everyone else. Anyway, congratulations on knowing exactly what to ask to get a hit thread!

In reading both the challenge and looking over your thread, I was immediately drawn to the discussion you presented. For the actual point of the conversation, I liked that your thread topic automatically pulled people's inner stan and people rushed to defend their favorite artists. I like that your conversation struck at an underlying topic that some artists live for the art of their music while others just want the money. The question was indeed interesting and your OP was clear in what you were expecting posters to respond to in your thread. The posts were a good balance of conversation and flamebait worthy posts, but clearly your thread made some sort of heavy discussion without you interfering. Excellent thread.

Make a thread, can be a poll too, in either The Lounge or Base that raises an interesting question that will hopefully cause ATRL to get into a discussion.
|
Just like your performance last episode, when reading the challenge description, you executed the exact requirements. Base discussions/polls aren't my first choice since they're so short lived, repetitive, and come a dime a dozen, but you presented a great topic nonetheless. But yas, you better inadvertently get the Monsters riled up. Oh and congrats on getting your challenge idea of distributing points for best thread being used. May you reap the benefits.

You did something smart by choosing a broad topic and then supplementing it with a series of questions to guide the discussion. It kept the conversation dynamic and alive. The thread didn't catch on as much as I might have expected, but those who participated got very involved, returning to the thread and actually talking with each other.

However it is clear that this topic wasn't one that many ATRL users could take the conversation beyond what the OP had intended. I did like when your thread topic was around Same Sex Marriage since it is a hot topic on ATRL to discuss thing LGBT worthy. That topic alone had the best response without the OP interfering with discussion. Also the topics of Weddings might not mean much to many ATRLers. It just seemed unlikely in the first place for it to take off. Just to add on, this thread was close to having its own conversation without the OP changing the topic, but as a poster I felt the topic I would have loved to respond to more was the Same Sex Marriage topic (which caters to the very homosexual nature of this forum) and the other topics were alright. I'm glad you saw some minor success from your thread thus far.

At first I thought you were reloading the infamous ATRL Wedding thread and tbh, I was kind of excited for that. But who knows, it most likely would've flopped had it been that; you know these new girls can't handle nice things. Small detail, but I like that you linked the topic discussions in the OP. This topic is interesting though because it's intriguing for me to see men, well I guess gay men for that matter, elaborately discuss their wedding details with sincerity.
My inner little girl is kind of spazzing out with it though. I'm surprised this hasn't been a topic yet in the flop girls' thread. I have a Pinterest board stuffed with all my future wedding details so I'll be making my way in there soon.

I like how it is something different, something light, something fresh. You're updating it to get that longevity and making the topics to something that is wedding related. I really like that aspect. A different way of getting the community involved, being open, and getting to know people with similar interests.

Oof, you really bellyflopped on this one. I think the issue is that you went too general. By trying to create a thread for everyone, you ended up appealing to no one. The question is so vague (is tugging your wig a good thing or a bad thing?) that it doesn't draw people in, and those that do enter the thread can just leave a quick thought and then bounce. There's no conversation keeping them there. You needed more specificity, more creativity, a niche to fill. We already have plenty of places for random discussion on ATRL.

In reviewing your thread, I really think this thread could have had a life of its own. Essentially you were attempting to make two of these thread topics into one (in my eyes): "What's Your Problem" and "What has you been moved by recently". With this formation, it had the elements to have repeated dialogue without the Thread Starter having to interfere and the posters would likely come up with some sort of reasoning for their responses. Unfortunately this isn't the case. In my perspective, in looking through threads, before I even post in the thread I would have a good idea of what to expect before posting in the thread given the title of the thread. The question "What's tugging your wig?" wouldn't make a whole lot of sense without reading the OP, thus a reason I wouldn't immediately be drawn to your thread. I also had an issue with your OP. I can only post in your thread by only the implications you stated in the OP and yet it still isn't very clear what you were wanting people to post (ex. what is snatching according to you?).

ATRL's Next Top Member Cycle 11 | The final two are!?!?!?

Welcome ladies! Tonight we will be seeing who the two finalists are moving on to becoming ATRL's Next Top Member.
Let me introduce the judges...
SUPASPAZ

ATRL Moderator | ZUNE

ANTM Veteran | MATTY

Host
Cycle 2 Winner | KITT

Cycle 9 Winner | EDGE

Cycle 8 Winner |
Earlier this evening you all met with the judges and we evaluated your entries...
HERE
Now it's time to see who is going home!!
3 members stand before me, but only 2 will continue on to becoming ATRL's Next Top Member.
The first member I call has been deemed best of the week, will have their name displayed in my signature until the next judging,
AND IS THE FIRST FINALIST OF ANTM11...
1) MINAJ
AVERAGE JUDGE RANK:
1.4 | TOTAL JUDGE SCORE:
61 |
Congratulations, you are finalist
and one step closer in the hopes of becoming ATRL's Next Top Member!
I wasn't particularly that impressed by your thread, but it did basically give exactly what was looking for based on what I gave on the challenge.
Will Dancehall and Latch please step forward.
I only have one name typed out in the Burr font below and that person will be moving on to becoming ATRL's Next Top Member.
Dancehall --- For someone who was constantly strong in the beginning of the competition, has now started becoming lukewarm and not being as hot as he once was. I call it the initial impact. You start off in a competition with 13 other bodies, so it's easier to either stand out in a good or bad way. Even if you are lukewarm you can still be considered good or bad. However, as the numbers shrink, we start to see everything and become more critical. That forces you to stand out more. Thus, if you stand out more with a lot of people, but not when there less people and more focused on you, that can say a lot.
Latch --- After such a slayage with the last challenge, your entry this week was very underwhelming. I can tell by all of us judges, we were greatly disappointed knowing your true potential. I mean you can bring receipts, you could have used that to make a great discussion thread. Something I noticed about your run in the competition, is that you are really high or you are really low; never really in the middle of the pack. That could be a good thing, but really it shows that you can do well, but when you don't it can fall flat. Sometimes it is good to have some of that middle run as it shows some movement and good notice.
So who stays?
And will compete against Minaj for the title of Top Member?
2) DANCEHALL
AVERAGE JUDGE RANK:
1.6 | TOTAL JUDGE SCORE:
61.5 |
Congratulations, you are finalist
and one step closer in the hopes of becoming ATRL's Next Top Member!
Majority, but not all, have said that you deserve to move on thinking you have had a stronger history in the competition than Latch. I hope your Speech brings back that fire to convince us that you should win the competition.

To say that I'm upset is an understatement. As the weeks went by, I thought you would eventually become a favorite and be in the top two. Kind of weird how things can happen. You were a strong competitor and if ANTM history repeats itself, even the third place winner can be a Top Member along with the winner and possibly the runner-up of the competition. You have IT and a strong personality to easily cross that line [of being a top member]. It has been an extreme pleasure having you in this competition!
Keep an eye out for the speeches tomorrow!!!

Aw, congrats you two!!!
I've barely tuned into this season but for what I've seen, both of you have done amazing. Plus, tha slayful entries you've provided beats anything I've done last season combined.
Latch Don't be discouraged or anything about getting 3rd. You beat out over 10 others and made it this far, which is a great accomplishment. Plus you're #27 on US iTunes, when will Dancehall Peasant and SSStuttering?
