every artist/performer doesn't necessarily need to have a-list name recognition but I do need to find them good. From the performances I watched on Youtube, all I saw was mediocrity. J. Lo's solo performance and the MJ hologram were the only things I thought stood out for different reasons.
but yes, a bunch a-listers at an awards show does drastically change the energy. see: 2009 VMAs, 2011 VMAs, or the 2010 Grammys.
