Science can actually probe into an afterlife if it really wants. It can routinely invent the technology that can see the invisible whether in astrophysics or nuclear physics. It has the international government and university sponsorship and has billions of euros of funds. The problem, however, is that atheists have now got the lion share of the scientific community and anything related to religion is shunned, scorned and ridiculed by majority of scientists. They have no trouble believing in multiverses, string theory, hidden worlds theory but the idea of an afterlife is just crazy for them. So any research for an afterlife is just being conducted by a small-scale, private enterprise without outside funding which explains the involvement of just very few scientists.
