Although both ladies have differing musical sounds/direction and a different artistic vision, would a collab make sense and most importantly would it work?

I think that if Katy would darken up her visuals for upcoming music videos like Legendary Lovers ect then a song with Madonna could work and could help catapult Madonna's career.

a song called "I am you master/leader" would SLAY discussing how both women have an urge of dominance towards each other and all the other music princesses where they even start name dropping Britney, Rih ect (LOL i SWEAR IT WOULD WORK)

but they prob will do a song about world peace

I too feel like it would be awkward but if Katy darkened up her look and music videos a bit more before the collab it could work out well. she just needs to be a bit more bad ass ish. Rihanna would fit perfectly for Madonna but i dont think that will ever happen
