This is beyond evolution and the big band. Science is not regarded very highly in the US. Education is regarded the same in a way. In other countries who are doing better than the US hold much more value in education. People can believe what they want, but not when people start bringing religion in to stop certain parts of the sciences to be taught. I mean in certain parts of the US, they have an issue with evolution being taught, and this is only because of religion resistance to be frank. This is what I think is wrong.

As messed up at this may sound those people are weeded out in university. In case you didn't know the US by far has the worlds best universities. If those people make it through college than they'll get the other perspective, and if they choose to disregard it than that's their issue. Nothing can change them at that point. What it means is they have their own opinion and belief, let them be.

Nah. I live in Florida, and I had two teachers that literally told the whole class "you're stupid if you don't believe in evolution". Nobody did or said anything, and I'm sure some agreed

I wouldn't be like that teacher but I would talk about evolution and its role in biology. I wouldn't care if someone disagreed, we are different and we will disagree in some areas. As long as they respect biology as the way and not try to push their religion on to their class then I'm good

The US is not that behind I think we place like in the middle compared to first would countries which isn't amazing for a country that boasts is the biggest country in the world. There is much room for improvement which is something we must work at but yeah.... Idk about the 80s though my history isn't that good hhaha

I realize we are not the farthest behind in a lot of things, but America used to be #1 in many more categories than it is now. Times have changed and we have not kept up with the rest of the modern world.

Yes mean while other countries population are on an overall higher level in terms of education compare to the US. You can't move as a country if you only have some "top scientists" when everyone else is low.

I think it's more to do with politics than religion. For example religion doesn't really say anything about climate change or global warming. It's Republicans who have been getting Americans to not believe in global warming. It's the same here in Europe, it's always the conservative/right-wing people that don't believe in it.

Thankfully in Europe, there's hardly any right-wing/conservatives, but in the US almost half the country are.

Probably but I think when it comes to the conservatives they are thinking more about the business aspect than other things.. .so yeah lol
