I know we all like to exaggerate Beyoncé's powers but is it really true that her performances or presence makes an award show better?

Yes. Whether people want to admit, stars like Bey, Jay, Gaga bring some level of excitement to these things. Hell, was Bruno even there? I didn't watch because of the lack of true entertainers.

Just raises the quality, but doesn't affect the ratings or popularity.
On the other hand Beyonce's Brit performance was the most anticipated and resulted as
Lyrical.

Beyoncé, Gaga, Rihanna, Britney... if any of them are there, high chances it will suck... not all them for the good reason, but still...
