(meaning 'local' as in your city's station, not the whole country)
I've noticed that my local top 40 station plays several songs quite a lot but for some reason arent hits on a bigger scale (Hot 100, airplay chart, etc)
right now, theyre playing that My Crazy Girlfriend single a lot (i think mainly bc theyre a local gig sponsored by that station)
I think it's weird that my station plays songs and they end up being popular around here, but they hardly make a dent in the Hot 100
I live in LA county and over here Power 105.9 used to play (and still do) this song.
Almost everyone around here knows this song but it only charted at #20 on Bubbling under
Back when it came out in 2011, my local pop station played "Keep Your Head Up" by Andy Grammer so much it went #3 on their year-end chart, but it missed the Top 50 on the hot 100.
My local station plays G.U.Y. to death! Along with a whole lot of Chris Brown Pitbull and Rihanna. Dark Horse was a thing long before ROAR ended its reign.
It's taking off now but my local radio station has been playing Classic like crazy for the past couple months to the point where I'm already sick of hearing it
The Walker by Fitz and the Tantrums - They're one of the bands headlining a local festival here in Idaho so the radio stations have been whoring out this song in order to get people to go (I love Fitz though.)
Forever - HAIM
Nonono - Pumpin' Blood
The Big Bang - Katy Tiz
They all play All of Me to death though Also, I actually think they had people calling in complaining about how much Happy was being played because they all of the sudden stopped playing it three times an hour.
