I really believe this is the best song she's ever written. It's so honest and deep and it has that notalgical sound that I love.
I'm sure almost every celebrity nowadays feels this way because of all the media backlash and drama.
But, who did she write this song about?
Quote:
New to town with a made up name in the angel city,
Chasing fortune and fame.
And the camera flashes, make it look like a dream.
Quote:
Now it’s big black cars, and Riviera views,
And your lover in the foyer doesn't even know you
And your secrets end up splashed on the news front page.
And they tell you that you’re lucky.
But you’re so confused,
Cause you don’t feel pretty, you just feel used.
Quote:
It was a few years later, I showed up here.
And they still tell the legend of how you disappeared,
How you took the money and your dignity, and got the hell out.
They say you bought a bunch of land somewhere,
Chose the Rose Garden over Madison Square,
And it took some time, but I understand it now.
Shania Twain comes to my mind everytime I hear it.
Yes! Although not her best I LOVE this song its prefect especially for the educated who think she only writes breakup songs
Amazing
You should probably get this moved to base
And maybe change the title to: who did taylor write this song about (lucky one appreciation thread) thats what I was going to do

Glad everyone is saying Shania, I saw quite a few people insisting it was about Lana when it was first out and that confused me to no end. I've always thought Shania, although others have said possibly Joni mitchell or Marilyn, both of those kinda make sense too.

The only line that really fits Lana is the "60's queen" one. Because of how Lana used to dress during the BTD era. I don't see how someone can say the entire song is about her
