How strict or lenient were/are your parents? And how has that affected you?
Where you allowed to watch whatever you wanted, play any video game, go out at any hour?
Or did you have a Tiger Mom™? Strict parents are just a foreign idea to me so I'm curious.
They were super laid back until I did something they didn't like then they'd scream at me and verbally abuse me. The inconsistency damaged me greatly as a child.
My parents were lenient, and I turned into a rebel. I had a rather tough childhood because my brother was abusive, so, that could have something to do with them being so lenient because my brother was always in trouble, the rest of our behaviors kind of fell by the wayside .
Now that I am fully grown and see how tough actual life is, I love, appreciate, and respect my parents so much, especially considering what they had to go through with all of us .
I was raised by a single parent, my mom. She worked a lot and she often lost control of the 3 of us which turned us into reckless heathens. She WAS strict with my older sister, but once she had my brother and I back to back, we kind of drained all of her energy, so every time she'd try to be strict with us we'd just rebel. My bro and I were a team, and I feel bad looking back now but that's what happens when there's no daddy in the picture I guess. She's a superwoman though.
Really depends on what. My mom was all for policing my TV, Internet, and video game usage, dad never was. In general though my parents are pretty permissive.
Both of my parents are very strict. They always want everything to be perfect. Nevertheless, I love them as however they are, they are still my parents.
Maybe that's why I often appear as annoying/opinionated as they brought me up with far too much of discipline.
I wasn't able to play video games until I was 15, and I grew up thinking that a b was a bad grade that stood for below average. My parents were pretty strict, but when I turned eighteen, they became soo lenient.
They were kinda strict when I was younger, but since I was 13 they were much more lenient. They do have some regulations, but they do give me enough space.

It was the same for me... no video games, my I would get in trouble for marks that were A- or lower, except that my parents stayed the same even after I turned 18.
mine were really strict, especially when it came to media. i hardly ever brought friends to my house cause my mom literally grills all of them until she knows their entire life story
i mean im 21 and have a job so i can basically do whatever but i still have to go by their general house rules (the main one being i have to be home by a certain time cause they work early and dont want to be woken up by me coming home in the middle of the night which is understandable i suppose)
they're also a LOT more leniant with my younger brother than they were with me which makes me a biT jealous tbh
My parents were strict. I always felt smothered. Bedtime at this time. Chores. You're paying for your car and college though we have money. You can't go out with friends unless there's a parent present. Etc. But around 16-17 they lightened up A LOT.
It's really vanilla but w/e.
