I don't know what's worse, people laughing at him calling donkey kong a person of color or people not getting the point that Nintendo after 30 years still only represents one racial group.

Have black characters, I see people saying who cares? That alone is the biggest problem.
How can you say Nintendo only represents ONE racial group, when Pokemon-a Nintendo franchise has black characters? Mario isn't the only Nintendo series.

I think often times people forget that other countries do not display the breadth of diversity America does.
True, Nintendo is an Asian company after all, and pretty much like the K-pop industry, they're not familiar with the racial discussion we have in the Western world at all. One of their beauty ideals is having a white skin, so they think it goes for the rest of the world too.
Still, you'd expect more from a company who has been a major force in the global market for decades.
