Wait, is it normal to get a free track straight away when you pre-order an album? Im not somebody that would ever pre-order music as its actually stupid and unnecessary so I dont know if these tricks are normal. Level playing field etc.
Big pre-orders are becoming increasingly more misleading in regards to first week sales. They are popular and will open big; but don't let the pre-orders make you think the first week will be out of this world. Wait until the actual first week starts and see how things go from there.
Of artists who first charted this decade, ones who had multiple releases with a 100k week:
One Direction 546, 540, 176
Nicki 375, 253
J Cole 297, 217
Mumford and Sons 600, 133 (though their debut came out in the UK in 2009)
Mac Miller 145, 101
[All the rappers released mixtapes last decade too which helped build hype, and M&S had EPs.]
That's pretty limited company that 5SoS looks to join...they should be the 2nd pop artist. With Ariana a likely 3rd.
