Which makes Ain't It Fun going Top 10 more impressive because there aren't any successful female led bands and it makes it even more impressive that due to this fact its really surprising how Paramore is still going strong almost 10 years later.

This is off topic of this weeks chart, but I was hoping to discuss something Billboard related.

this thread has me in frustration. The Billboard chart update date is sort of irrelevant in my eyes. In no way does this weeks chart for example represent anything of the music popularity from May 14 - May 21.

I guess this wouldn't be such a problem since many of the components of the hot 100 start and end on different tracking days, but still in no way does all the chart data reflect anything from May 14th to May 21

It is kind of weird but that basically means that is the "current" top songs right now until May 21st when it updates.

It's how the magazines were dated back when Billboard wasn't a web-centric platform. The magazines would be sent out to the subscribers on those dates, and the chart would read what they had calculated the week before.

Edit: Nevermind, I just realized you were talking about something else.

So its more for publishing reasons. I guess that makes sense for the magazine, but it doesn't make sense for the listing the data with the chart week.

I mean, the chart that came out today is actually published as being the chart for the week of May 24.

This thread title, however, just signifies the week that this thread applies to for archival purposes.

This has been my pet peeve for quite a while actually. So you're not alone.

I guess. But for a thread like the one posted, I've seen a number of surveys call out the song that was #1 during your birthday, and basically the world uses the publication date not ep the time period the chart was being tracked since that is the week the song was number one.

Its not like we can change it, but I wonder how many people know about this set up
