You can listen to music just fine underwater. You can get speakers installed in a pool
As for the shower thing though, I usually just play it from my phone in the bathroom, and that's loud enough

The sonic waves interfere with the water molecules since they are more dense in volume and closer together, making it hard for them to be clear enough for the sound to sound ok.
