It's really great when you look at it the right way. Like, looking at the standouts, it's my favorite record. Focusing on the less spectacular tracks distorts perception of the album; everyone has fillers.

Im gonna replan the ARTPOP era because Im bored

1. Sexxx Dreams - August 2013 - She needed to come back with a HUGE song. Applause was good but was a little more 3rd/4th single rather than lead single/comeback single. Sexxx Dreams with Swinefest's production and bridge wouldve slayed, thats what we wouldve got if she didnt have August-November to change it
2. Venus - November 2013 - Just like originally planned, I think this couldve done well depending on how much hype, controversy and momentum SD laid out for it.
3. Do What U Want - February 2014- An undeniable smash, without the Venus/DWUW mess and the video/manager change mess, this wouldve been huge
4, Gypsy - May 2014 - Obviously a great tour single, summer single, fan fave single etc.

End era.

ARTPOP is by no means bad, it does hold some of her best songs to date (Gypsy, DWUW, Applause, etc.) but I agree that she needs to keep up with the climate. ARTPOP is dated and not at all in line with what is popular right now.

On the other hand, she released the closest thing on the album that is (DWUW) and that was only a moderate hit, proof that radio just isn't here for her right now, which is a result of the GP not being here for her, which is a result of critics bashing her left and right. lol.

If she came back with a critically-acclaimed album that was something different and got people interested in Gaga again, radio would quickly come back on board and she can slay again.

In the meantime, I'm glad she's getting her confidence back and slaying with this tour. First female artist every to get their first three WW tours over $100M, and also the youngest and the quickest artist to reach a $500M tour gross. Who else but the queen

but radio was here for Applause and DWUW, they are some of her biggest radio hits ever. Just no one bothered to buy the songs.

Wait, how much has the ARTPOP Tour grossed so far? I'm pretty sure it's gonna end up huge but I haven't kept up with the stats.

I don't think they've reported it yet but I believe most of her shows sold out and then added some extra tickets in last minute.

Applause was, DWUW was not, and G.U.Y. is non-existent on radio. Pretty much sums up the entire era - big initial interest that quickly died off.

It peaked at number 8 on the pop charts and actually held its own. (it also climbed there on its own without a radio deal) If that's not a radio hit then I don't know what is. Not everything is gonna smash like Roar or Talk Dirty. Her issue this era wasn't radio until they just dropped everything and ignored DWUW's video and promotional plans. Applause was one of her better radio chart runs since TEOG.
