The German music market raised the bar for certification qualifications of music records. Starting on 1 June 2014, singles will have to sell a lot more than before to be certified the same way.

Albums:
Gold (100,000+) & Platinum (200,000+) will stay the same.
Diamond will be newly introduced and handed out if an album manages to sell +750,000.

Singles:
Gold (200,000+ / before: 150,000+)
Platinum (400,000+ / before: 300,000+)
Diamond (new: 1,000,000+)

Singles/albums that got released after 1 January 2013 can be certified retroactively.

I SUPPOSE (in caps cause I have no real clue) that the discographic industry in Germany is going well...is one of the last places where they craft physical singles
