why is turkey named after a bird?
So recently I was just thinking and then i started to wonder why turkey (the country) was named after the bird? Or is the bird named after the country?

Turkey's came from the country. They were originally known as Turkish Hens.

After Ataturk reformed Turkey into a more secular state. He changed the name from Persia I believe (correct me if I'm wrong)

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk followed the ending of the Ottoman Empire. He led a revolution essentially and founded/changed the name to Turkey.
