Hi guys
I'm a prolific reader of almost all book genres. One of my favorites tho is older sci-fi series and books; with usually female protagonists as the main characters. Some of my favorites are Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Moon.

For years I'd daydream about how if I were Bill Gates rich I would finance the turning of some of their books into movies.

Some of the series Id start with are

The harper trillogy by Anne, from Dragonsong to Dragonsinger to DragonDrums

I've never been able to settle on who'd play Menolly tho. Maybe an undiscovered unknown.

For Elizabeth Moon I'd love to do the Paksenarrion trilogy, but the heroine's name would almost need to be changed somehow. Its too long and odd for movies I think.


are any of you fans of these two authors or do you love any other sort of offbeat or not wildly popular scifi books and series youd like to see made as movies or a t.v. show?

they aren't scifi but i'd LOVE to see the fablehaven series, the septimus heap series, the bartimaeus series, the "uglies" series, and the keys to the kingdom series turned into movies. I read them all in middle school and they're my top 5 fave book series tbh.

I like genre although I have never really read much books into it before. Recommend any new ones?

I havnt heard of those series you've mentioned, but if I get time later Ill look them up.

If I had to choose one.... I probably like All the Weyr's of Pern the most. Tied everything up so nicely.



Those books she wrote with her son were an abomination though....

ATWOP is one of my favorites too. My most favorite are the harper series. And Ivd never read the ones with her son. I did like the Petaybee series wigh Moon tho.

Dragonsinger was the first Anne book I ever read. I liked them at the time, but reading them now they have not aged well imo.

Looked up the Harper Hall Trilogy... DAMNNNNN.... there are no Kindle Editions

I know, it suck! I dont understand why that series of all her books isnt on kindle. I lost my dragonsinger and dragondrums copies and wanted a kindle edition.

Honestly.... besides Anne McCaffery and the Ender's series I have never really gotten into sci-fi. Mostly fantasy instead.

I just downloaded Ancillary Justice though. So maybe I will finally get around to reading that?

you should check out Elizabeth Moon's Paksennarion series, it's actually fantasy instead of scifi. I just sorta group both genres under scifi. Also mcCaffrey's "the ship who sang" its kinda futuristic fantasy/scifi mix. Very good book

I remember starting this one book I found at my library years and years ago, and OMG was it graphic. The book itself was horrible though.
