Even if that is the case 1.4 million is very low for the impact the single had in the US with the whole urban community talking about it, to be fair the album impacted the single sales since those numbers don't match, I've never seen a song so talked about and selling this low, I was expecting 3 million at least for how much buzz it got.

Billboard charts success of singles and has placed it at #2, but even if we never knew where it charted, as you say it had impact and thus it was a hit with the public. I'd bet most people don't know Drunk in Love's sales statistics because it doesn't matter. Impact is important, so thanks for bringing that up.
