Society will never look down upon a guy who gets a lot of chicks. He'd be regarded as an alpha male. Society would, however, look down upon a girl doing the same thing. I don't exactly agree with it, but if I were to sleep with guys I wasn't in a relationship with and claim it was for female empowerment, nobody would believe me. I'd just be regarded as 'that ****'.
To save myself the humiliation of that, I'd just keep it in my pants until I am sure I actually feel genuine love for a guy before I gave it up to him.
[Oh, and just to clarify, I don't really think either gender should be hooking up with randoms on a near-nightly basis; I don't support promiscuity regardless...]
