As you guys may have known, South China Sea has always been a troubled water between China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei and Malaysia. Yesterday, a conflict between a China's boat and Vietnam's boat that resulted in damage for both boats, and injured 6 Vietnamese sailors have led Hanoi to FINALLY voice out: EVERYTHING HAS IT LIMITS.

Also, just recently China's finishing boats also approach the Philippines' sea territories and all boats were captured by their marine force.

The ASEAN leaders are meeting today for a peaceful solution, but things are getting very intense in Vietnam right now.

Let's pray for a war NOT to happen.

Why do people care so much about those worthless islands anyways?

The islands themselves are meaningless. It's the waters that are valuable. IMMENSE oil reserves (proven and unproven), heavy shipping traffic due to geographic location and also rich marine biodiversity.

well, China placed an oil rig within Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and the Vietnamese had to do something.

I don't care about the political struggles. I just feel depressed that people from these countries starting to hate each other. Obviously the government of these countries are USING their own people, that's so sad.

I am a Vietnamese myself and I dont want to go to join the army at any point both Vietnam and China are not worth it, people from both side dont need to fight for those bull governments

The oil beneath the tiny tiny tiny piece of land called Brunei (also in the SCS) is worth at least $50 Billion if not many times more. They think there may be even more oil under the islands China is fighting for now, and with China's economic boom, they need oil.

But for real, they should just let China have the islands. Better to give up a couple billion dollars than risk angering a dragon with nuclear warheads.

But the war WILL NOT happen. For sure The government is not gonna do anything

they have most of the islands now VN only controls a few main islands
There's nothing can be done to stop China, that's for sure But it's not about the money - it's about the lands that our ancestors got from their blood and tears it's a part of our history and dignity, we just can't let them go without a fight at least in paper

Those islands should belong to us the most and to China the least. They're closest to our country and farthest from China.
