Prince of Persia film pushed back a year
Quote:
The Prince of Persia will have to wait another year to ascend to the box office throne, as Variety is reporting that Disney has delayed the series' feature film debut to the Memorial Day weekend of 2010. Previously, it had been set for release June 19, 2009.
The official reason given is that the extra year will allow more time for an abundance of postproduction special effects work to help bring the game's world to life. The new date also puts the film a week after the expected release of Shrek the Fourth. The previous opening was set to be the week before Transformers 2.
When it finally arrives, the film will star Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain, The Day After Tomorrow), Gemma Arterton (Quantom of Solace, Three and Out), Ben Kingsley (Sexy Beast, BloodRayne), and Alfred Molina (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Spider-Man 2).
Gyllenhaal will play the princely Dastan as he strives to prevent a nefarious nobleman from obtaining the continuum-controlling Sands of Time. Arterton's character, the princess Tamina, will join him on his quest. The production began filming in Morocco last week, although it will have moved to London by the project's end.
Replacing the Prince in the June 19 slot of Disney's release schedule will be The Proposal, a romantic comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

I just found this on Gamespot. They are going to ruin it; Disney. Why can't Hollywood make it. It's going to be cheesy as f**k because it's going to be "Disney Oriented"
Another great game to movie gone to waste. I'm
looking forward to this though...they better not screw it up. Yay for Jake G. playing the Prince! <3
