NBC have renewed SVU for its 16th season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The procedural joins fellow renewed Dick Wolf-produced dramas Chicago Fire and Chicago PD.
It's not surprising to see NBC continue to support SVU as it remains relatively consistent for the struggling network. While Season 15 suffered a slight dip in live ratings compared to previous years, delayed viewing over seven days saw ratings jump 56 percent.
This announcement follows close on the heels of NBC's four new series orders. While SVU, Parks and Recreation, Grimm, The Blacklist, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD are among NBC shows that have been confirmed for another season, the network have yet to make a decision on Community, Hannibal, Revolution and Parenthood, not to mention new series like About a Boy and Growing Up Fisher.
