I get this is a pop forum but why does everyone needs to validate their fave's sucess? In the end, does it really matter? I get shading an artist here and there but when you always do it, it gets old. If your fave is good, why do other artists make you insecure?

I honestly don't know. I suppose because sales and charts are the only literal thing that we can vouch for, but if the world was to believe that was all that mattered than we'd all have to agree Katy was the icon of our generation and call it a day. And I mean she has her talents and catchy songs, but surely even the most devout Katy Kat could at some point perhaps explore the idea that maybe she isn't the most talented, so here the rest of us are to vouch for our faves' perhaps underrated abilities.

Like I know Gaga has been on a big decline, but here she is pursuing her ideals at the expense of mainstream success and if that's not something to be applauded than what even is the point of being an artist?

This entire site, and probably thousands of fanboy type sites out there, is built off of a psychology term called: Cognitive Dissonance. It's basically where people seek reassurance that the thing/product/person they invested resources (money, time, etc) in is better than the other choices. So for us catty chicas, that means putting down the other choices in faves we could have had, and reacting angrily to people who put down our choice
