It's basically what makes vocals human as opposed to robotic. "Emoting" is where vocalists sing with emotion, which can be heard through different inflections as the words are pronounced. Vocals without emotion sound cold and distant.

Not being able to hit the notes with ease, which will sound like struggle in your vocals, which the GP feels like its "emotive"

Singing with emotion, where the listener can feel the pain.

You should watch The Voice, Xtina teaches the contestants how to emote, which's basically bringing feeling through 1's self when singing in a mainly theatrical way.

Artists who don't emote well: Beyonce, and Leona Lewis.

Beyonce is someone i connect with bc she her voice is so versatile in regards to emoting. emoting can be anything! it doesnt have to be sad, but if thats the kind of emotion this thread is referring to, then Bey has a lot of songs that connect to me on that level too.

all i could do is cry, i'd rather go blind, resentment, heaven, blue, etc..... makes me very emotional.

Subjective **** and an excuse used to cover up for one's lack of proper vocals.

Stan one: OMG she was flat for two notes, and sounds like she just ran a marathon.
Stan two: No Ur wrong! She's emoting!
Stan one: Too bad "emoting" is subjective, but you know what's completely objective? Your fave being flat.
