Did Iggy follow "The Pink Print"?
I'm not making this thread to be shady or to pit them against one another, but I'm just asking if you think Iggy followed what Nicki has deemed the pink print of how she paved the way for a new generation of female emcees.
I think so. She made the pop influenced debut album to appeal to mainstream, became a figure in the fashion world, and now she seems to be jumping on features and getting exposure through them.
However, I'm not implying Iggy is copying Nicki or that she didn't have her own journey. I guess my point, do you think her Azealia, Brooke, and all these other girls would still be getting deals and albums if it wasn't for Nicki?

Nicki was all over features first, to get her name out there. Then she did the album, then the fashion world (though not as much as Iggy). Iggy did it in the exact opposite order, so I don't think it was a conscious thing. It's worked for both of them so far, I doubt Iggy will see as much success as Nicki though.

Yes, because without Nicki female rap would be dead and no one (specially the mainstream) would care for them. So you can say she followed "The Pink Print"

Lil Kim did all of that before Nicki and so did Foxy Brown.

I don't think she followed Nicki's route. IMO it's a pure coincidence that her album is pop influenced and getting features happens to every rapper (regardless of gender) once they smash.

Iggy definitely used the Pink Friday formula but I think you're reaching with the other similarities.

You sound really pressed with this comparison, just stop trying to start wars between fan bases. Iggy is Iggy, Nicki is Nicki.

Iggy was never a hardcore rapper, and didn't change her genre to please the public. Her music has (mostly) always had pop/dance elements in it. So, implying that she 'followed the same path' as Nicki to be successful is silly because she's always been more of a pop-rap artist (like Missy) than 'hardcore' rap (like Kim, in the beginning).

She's not following the exact same path as Nicki at all, but she did go through a door that Nicki opened.

No, Iggys music has always been dance influenced trap music (Trap Gold, Ignorant Art and Glory all back this up) so that's invalid. Her catering to the mainstream is her trying to survive as an hip-hop based artist living in a world where pop music is 90% of the time superior, she isn't the first to showcase this and won't be the last. As for the features -- I mean she's a rapper, if she's following the "Pink Print" formula so is Kendrick, Drake, 2chainz etc and we all know they aren't that's just how rappers get their start.

I don't she followed Nicki's path, I mean, "My World" is more pop/electronic than anything on Iggy's debut album so, no.
I think no one can deny that Nicki paved the way for a new generation of female rappers tho.

You really can't say that though especially since half the songs the GP knows of Nicki are pop/heavily pop influenced. Where is LAN? YB?

Every hip hop album by a major artist is pop influenced imo. Drake, Kanye, Eminem, Kendrick, Jay-Z, Macklemore, etc. They always make sure to put catchy hooks to their songs. I don't think it's something unique to Nicki or Iggy.

But iggys music has anyways been pop/electronic influenced. She did not change her style at all, have you heard ignorant art? Trap gold? And she needed it anyways because she was never gonna be fully braced by the urban community.
