Imagine if you guys were alive before the technology for home video came about, y'all would probably kill yourselves over the prospect of never being able to see your favorite movies again after they stop showing them in theaters.

No, I don't think they take too long. The time span is just right, people actually have an incentive to go see the movie in theaters. If DVDs were released any sooner, lots of people simply wouldn't bother going to the movies when a film's typical theater run would overlap with the DVD release.

You all must be too young to remember VHS. Back in the day, before DVDs, we had to wait almost a year for a movie to come out on video after it left theaters.

Suddenly, waiting 4-6 months for a movie to come out on Blu-ray/DVD doesn't sound so bad, huh?

They've been coming out quicker than when I was a kid (god I sound old).

I remember having almost a full year for movies to come out on DVD/VHS.

Now they come out after the first 3 months usually (Frozen release date in December - momentum at its peak in February, on DVD in March)
