You can not avoid breaking earphones cables because they are very fragile and easy to break. Just make sure you buy earphones with flat cable and thick coating which will make the earphones durable.

But I honestly believe some things are planned obsolescence because if the headphones are good and not that pricey I'm sure some people would spend their bucks again on another pair
