It's always difficult to advise other people as everybody's body is so different, and our functions work at different speeds.
I started a diet in January as my BMI was 25. Although that's technically not "overweight", I felt I needed to loose some. I now have a BMI of 22, here's how I've done it....
- It goes against what everyone says but it's worked for me, I cut my calorie in take right down. I was eating about 1800 calories, I now have anything between 900 - 1100.
- Water, water, water. Literally, drink water all the time. I have two big glasses in the morning, and two at night. I then carry round a liter bottle with me during the day so I know for a fact I've drank a whole liter. Green tea is also very good.
- Don't go near ANY fatty/junk foods, fizzy drinks.
- I cut down on dairy sooo much. I started having all my coffee/tea black, and only have a little milk with my cereal in the morning. No cheese.
- BUT, don't deprive yourself completely. I've allowed myself one "bad" meal or snack every fortnight. I crave chocolate (A LOT), so I tend to have a chocolate bar once a fortnight so that I'm not miserable for depriving myself.
I'm sure a dietitian or specialist could find A LOT wrong with how I've dieted, but it's worked very well for me and it's something I'm now finding so easy to upkeep. At first, it was trial and error, you've just got to find a plan that works with you and your body clock. Good luck!
