Everybody is going insane because she's making a "return" to music but I don't remember people liking her even when she was out with new material in her "prime" (music wise)..
Mm maybe it's because her fans were expecting something from her for years now and now they will finally get it. Her latest work was flawless and I'm excited for her return too. Nothing wrong with it.
Anyway, she was all the rage for quite a while back in her peak. If you weren't into it, that is ALL on you. Don't shame people for liking her projects and being excited for her comeback.
I feel like during her 7 year break, she gained a lot of respect/fans especially since the last album she put out was the critically acclaimed Dignity. She wasn't really taken seriously during her "prime", but she's always had a good amount of fans. The 7 year break made people appreciate her more. Plus, Hilary and her music were ahead of their time. Don't forget that you're also on a music forum comprised of mostly gay males, so there's that.

Let's not act like her album Dignity was not ahead of it's time.
Also you seem to forget that most of the people on ATRL at this moment were Hilary's main fanbase when she was HUGE. Most of ATRL is about 16-20 which mean they were 9-13 when Hilary was THE ARTIST and we all loved Lizzie so it's exciting to see her comeback.
