Madonna is an artist for ADULTS. she comes from a generation of rock and roll stars with a "take it or leave it" attitude. it's as real as it can get.
I can tell you that the cringeworthy fan pampering is already becoming an off putting trend!

Madonna tends to be very straightforward with her opinions, saying what she thinks without sugarcoating it, what upsets a lot of people. She is, indeed, very genuine and real. Thats why I like her.

She has made a lot of highly controversial decissions and albums which could have seriously harmed or destroyed careers if someone less courageous and passionate tried to pull it off. Her aim was clearly not commercial success, she wanted to make strong statements about things she genuinely cared for.
She is the one in comand of her own career, clearly presenting her own ideas, often singing about her emotions, beliefs, life and personal struggles (divorce, dealing with deaths of her mother and close friends, relationships including the abusive one to Sean Penn, birth of her daughter etc.) in her works. She, not some managers or songwriters. Yes, she is making also feel good dance music, working with other producers and writers, but those are her ideas they work on TOGETHER.
