Former VersaEmerge Member Calls Out Fueled By Ramen, Paramore, Band



Devin Ingelido, a former member of VersaEmerge (now Versa), has released a lengthy blog :

As crazy as it sounds, the band ultimately received from 15 to 20 label offers, between labels like Sony/virgin so and so forth. Finally, we signed with Fueled by Ramen.

We were thrown on the back burner. Many opportunities that were given to Hayley were not given to Sierra. The band never really even acknowledged our band.

And let me state that the money was only there for the first ep that we released with FBR. 13000 dollars. After that, I was begging for 1000 dollars a month to keep me a float. Even to this day I never got paid for royalties on being on any album. Our full length record def surpassed 30 to 50 thousand units. ITunes and so on. Even after leaving, I was sent a quitting agreement. That stated I could never say I was part of the band versaemerge. That I will never receive money from royalties, the merch that they sell with my face on it.

And just having a female vocalist. You already know the show is about her.

Devin needs to stop
His wife needs to stop popping up every few months to try and **** on VERSA and get in fights with fans that disagree with her and Devin in the slightest bit.

They're just after $$$ while VERSA is making music for fans and because they love it (obvious since their last EP was free )

Why would you sign to Fueled by Ramen when you could sign to a big name label?

Aww I used to like VersaEmerge. I miss them. They were gonna do Another Atmosphere and then nothing.

They thought they would get more recognition with FBR. They thought they would be tossed to the side after one album if they went to a major label.

They changed their name, left FBR, released an EP, etc.

I ended up responding to them shading FBR over prioritizing Paramore elsewhere saying that Paramore had success with Misery Business to build off of, as well as an easily-identifiable lead singer (which makes it easier for them to market), so of course FBR's efforts were going to be focused on Paramore. Plus, as Paramore grew, so did their sound, so it made sense for FBR to give priority to them as a band. This is the case with any and every record label. Would Paramore have toured with No Doubt or released a song through a major film franchise if they didn't evolve beyond their first album? No.

What does that have to do with Paramore?

According to him, FBR putting priority on Paramore/giving opportunities to them is responsible for the lack of success for VE, particularly due to the fact that they are both female-led bands.

Sad, they used to be such a hot label back in the day!
