Secondly, what does welfare and having children having to do with privilege? Privilege isn't about being on welfare or having lots of children. It's about systemically having advantages over others because you fill a certain mold or criteria.

The "new black" is ignorant to think that unless you're lightskin and a "comfortable shade" for white people, you're not going to be treated the same. The "new black" should open their eyes and realize that they don't have the same opportunities as the successful white people around them. The "new black" needs to realize that they need to work twice as hard to be a percentage of what white people are. The "new black" needs to know that yes, you can dream, but you also need to work hard to create equality for your brothers and sisters.
