Nigerian Girls Kidnapped & Sold Into Marriage for $12
Dozens of schoolgirls abducted by Islamist fighters in Nigeria have been trafficked to neighbouring countries and forced to marry their kidnappers, it was reported on Wednesday, as protesters marched on the country's parliament to protest government inaction over the raid.
A local elder said that many of some 200 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram militants two weeks ago had since been taken into Chad and Cameroon, reporting sightings of the gunmen crossing the borders with the students.
Pogo Bitrus, a local leader in Chibok, the northern town where the raided boarding school is located, told media that girls were then sold as brides to Islamist fighters for 2,000 naira (£7.50) each.
I read this news article having heard about the news a few days back, and I came on here kinda disgusted that it's largely been ignored almost as much as it has been in the mass media/by authorities. I mean, 200 girls being kidnapped
Disgraceful that this has happened tbh, I hope progress is made.
