I think it's more to do with it being a Lady Gaga song… her brand has been tainted. ARTPOP's ambitions just came across as convoluted and contrived, pop culture and fine art are two worlds that didn't quite blend in the way she once hoped. GUY is a great song and should have torn up the top 40. It's a shame she's waited until now to put out the really really good stuff (like most of the material on ARTPOP) because she had such a massive audience three years ago that bought up whatever she was putting out. Regardless of quality…
The whole "Gaga's had her time shtick" became a pretty big 2013 Pop Culture moment.
People are literally disliking her because her music's not selling. It's a shallow, ungrounded reason to dislike her but it seems to be the case for most.
Its no Poker Face / Love Games. When i read that it'd be released, i knew it'd flop
I thought it was going to underperform and it would reach top 70. It wasn't a good idea to release that song. The best thing that her label could do is end this era, stop spending money and focus on her tour.
The song is annoying, and I figured it would underperform or at least go Top 40, but I certainly did not expect it to bomb on iTunes and only chart on the Hot 100 for only a week.
