Having said that, I don't believe ARTPOP sold 2.7 M WW to date, but it def sold way more than what's Mediatraffic reports.(almost 1.8 M WW). |
IFPI count albums sold to retailers. For example, Kmart, Target, Walmart etc. "buy" copies of the album as stock.
But it's shipments only. People just never remember that retailers are customers too.
For example, Warrior had reported 600k sales but we all know that she only sold 400k. The 600k was shipments.
ARTPOP's WW sales week to week add up to around 1.8M (maybe a bit higher in the last few weeks since promo started again). She can't have sold more than what's reported each week.
If you keep track on weekly sales, you'd know how much ARTPOP has sold (or any album) to the exact amount.
