Zane Lowe: Coldplay has been a part of the foundation of EDM
Zane Lowe interview on BBC Radio 1:
Zane Lowe: "You guys (Coldplay) are a part of the foundation of EDM in a weird way when you think about some of the biggest songs you've had when your talking about the tempo and the beat..."
i don't think u got the brains to appreciate music, so yeah, not really flawfree
:shade:
Honey, if you think you need to ~understand~ their music you're clearly overthinking things. Music isn't pretentious, people are, so get off your high horse. Thanks.

at least i can overthink, im sure u got no brains to even think, "honey"
Wasn't he the guy who said Bangarang was a rock song a couple of years ago?
I know some of Coldplay's songs have beats similar to dance music, but you can say that of any rock band and any pop star and any rapper and probably even some classical music composers.
Not to mention "EDM" was around a very long time before Coldplay, even if it wasn't called "EDM" back then.
Only major thing I can think of from Coldplay is that When Love Takes Over samples Clocks.
If he said he sees dance influences in Coldplay's music, I'd agree. But to say Coldplay are part of the foundation of "EDM" is a bit ridiculous... Disco music I'd say is the foundation, since lots of dance music genres of today started out as variations of it, and this type of music might not be popular, or even exist today if it weren't for the disco explosion.
Zane is like perpetually doing the most with artists in his interviews. If I ever have Radio 1 on when I'm in the car and it's one of his shows I have to turn it off.

This. "Foundation of EDM" is laughable. Just wut...
