“We know our fans are growing up alongside us, so the kind of music we listen to is probably the kind of music they listen to as well.”
When asked what types of music are influencing not only the band’s overall sound but each of the singers, Zayn replied, “We have all got completely different musical influences…
“Niall listens to more guitar, rock, old school music, I listen to R&B, Harry listens to a bit of everything and then it all comes together. That’s why I think it works.”
He jokingly added, “Louis doesn’t listen to music at all!”
They should stick with their sound, it has worked with their audience, no need to change it until they turn 28 or something and one of them has a successful career like Justin Timberlake and the others do other stuff.
I'm okay with them growing with each album. Midnight Memories was definitely a newer, grown-up sound and it really worked... Story Of My Life is one of their best songs and one of the best hits in the last year.
They evolved greatly on MM but I really need a more sexy 1D for their new album though.
I mean, I'm just so done with their 'we're young and free, we do silly stuff' vibe.
If you're really growing up then you should be able to dance a bit and seduce your audience imo.
It's not like they would lose fans because of that, it'd be a dream come true for all those 1D girls.
but I'd love to hear some R&B influenced tracks with Zayn singing on them.
