Hold It Against Me was hit, it openned very big, and I'm done people not respecting it as a hit. Britney doesn't open like that all the time

Harlem Shake was a BIG hit, you can still remember it, it didn't have THE longevity but the weeks it was slaying it was MASSIVE

Drunk In Love was definetely a hit, it doesn't feel like a Top 2 hit but no doubts was an amazing comeback for Beyoncé

HIAM was big just cause of the hype. Is it 2x platinum?

Harlem Shake was massive, yeah. But its videos and parodies.

Drunk In Love was just Top 2 cause of streaming. And because of the hype around the album. If it was released like a regular lead single I doubt it would even touch the top 20.

1) So what? Why does it matter why it was big? Platinum is still platinum. There's a reason they invented the certification.

2) Okay. Still big.

3) I will never understand why people try to belittle tracks for being hits mostly on streaming - streaming is the next step for the industry. It's likely already overtaken digital sales in revenue, so streaming hits are perhaps even more legitimate than sales hits at this point.

1) But being only platinum, for a pop girl's lead single, IMO means it was only bought by her stans and maybe a few of the GP. And that's not a big hit.

2) Harlem Shake was randomly choosen for the parodies. It could've been any song with crazy breakdown. The people really didn't care for the song.

3) I'm not saying I do not approve streaming. I listed another reason why it was a hit too.

1) It's still a hit. Some artists' fanbases are just that big.

2) But it's still the song that was chosen and was a hit.

3) But you said "just Top 2 cause of streaming," as if to belittle that fact. "Just because of streaming" affords no equal weight to streaming as to other formats. And your other reason ws simply that there was hype around the artist - is that not a legitimate reason as well?

I apologize if I'm coming off as confrontational, but I'm simply of the opinion that a hit is a hit is a hit.

Just type in on google: "Billboard Hot 100 Year-End Hot 100 [insert year here]" just insert the year that you're looking for at the end. You should be able to find it.

Wikipedia has the year-end Billboard chart from 1951 to present:

Just change the year at the end. 1951-1955 only had 30 songs, 1956 onwards have 100.
