Buzzfeed posts Original Doll article
Quote:
The KIIS-FM offices in Burbank, Calif., were nearly deserted the day Britney Spears called. It was December 2004, just before New Year’s Eve, and Jesse Lozano was filling in for the regular host, who was on vacation. “Britney Spears is on the phone,” he was told. “She says she wants to play her new song.”
Lozano thought it was a prank. “Usually, you don’t believe that,” he told BuzzFeed in March. But an hour later, the singer was outside the station’s Burbank studio with a bodyguard, her chihuahua, and, Lozano recalled, no shoes. “She had a CD with her and said, ‘Can we play it on the air?’”

if she had released this album on her own terms, she would have been in a completely different place now.
I hope it once sees the light of the day, she's said it was half done
all the songs I've heard that were rumoured to be on the record are immaculate in terms of lyricism

Spears was not made available for an interview, and her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, declined to answer questions. “Not supporting, commenting on it or providing any info for a ******** story with zero factual basis,” he said in an email.

nnn yeah sorry about that. I noticed the cutoff but reasoned that surely most of us have given up hope on anything substantial by now.

It's that one tiny, delusional part of me that's buried deep down below all that common sense. We're better off waiting for the Great Pumpkin of Charlie Brown.

I hope one day Britney just goes off, leaks this, rebellion, everything & explains everything so theres no more mystery. Then makes one killer come back better than ever.

The very idea of Buzzfeed leaking the album and getting its members to vote "LOL", "WIN", "Hmm" and "</3" on it.
The article was such an intense read as a fan. And it makes Britney Jean seem even more forced and faked. I don't even know anymore.

Such an informative article... Original Doll could've changed the trajectory of her career, especially with songs like "Take Off"... It's sad that JIVE and the ones that were closest to her didn't want to see Britney happy, doing her own thing, but wanted to preserve her as a pop staple to make more money off of.

On “Take Off,” Spears sang about tolerance, love, and peace. Bell called it her version of Michael Jackson’s “Black or White.” “It was about being tolerant about gay people. It was gay people, discrimination, basically loving yourself and being connected,” Bell said. “I think it was ahead of Lady Gaga. I think people would have looked at her and thought she had something to say. It was ahead of its time. She talked about war and how war is wrong.” In 2013, Bell tweeted some lyrics from the song: “They say get ready for the revolution / I think we oughta find some sorta solution.”
But Jive wasn’t impressed. “I think maybe they thought it was not close enough to her brand,” Bell said. She called In the Zone “the filtered-down version of Original Doll, or the more pop version.” She “wanted to make a record that was more vibey and more personal and honest,” Bell said. Ultimately, Spears still hoped her songs would have their day. “I think she knew, I can come back to these songs later,” Bell said.

I hate that her label killed her passion

The sad thing is that her management and her label don't see that Britney has cemented herself some time ago and that she could do whatever she likes to do. She has the legacy, she has done it. Why not give the woman some freedom to express herself some more. I mean it's not like Circus, Femme Fatale and Britney Jean will reach the history books.
Just look how her label always made her change her original plans. The Tiësto talks during the Femme Fatale era. The urban talks during the Britney Jean era, her label will do anything to fit her into the current "pop" environment.
