I don't doubt Ariana can hit the whistle register. I actually seen some videos where she hits those notes, but it's not controlled and she can't maintain it for long. Mariah had a lot of control of her whistles back then. I don't know what is Ariana's range, but I rarely see her singing in low register, she probably doesn't have a wider range than Mariah.
Still, you can't deny she has talent although she still lacks control.
