And it's pretty arguable that Lily is just as thin / if not thinner than Katy now.

Well it was allot more popular with critics and it kinda is relevant because that was the music she was making when she said that.

Also I wouldn't say her songwriting has taken a nosedive, her new material is just not as good as her old (so far) it's not particularly badly written or anything, it's just not up to her standards

I disagree I don't think Lily is funny. I don't dislike her, and I've spent enough time watching interviews to get the gist that some people think she's funny, however, I don't. Especially after this video!

Agreed, I don't think it's bad. Just not near as good, and I also don't think "It's Not Me, It's You" was better than everything Katy has written.

Well it is down to opinion tbf, It was just a snarky response to a rude comment. Lily is an excellent songwriter and she has proven that already.

I think Lily was just annoyed at Katy's comment and she always was a bit mouthy. There's no need to drag her for this ages old bit of tension.

I'm just hoping that the tracks we have so far are like the worst tracks and that the rest of the album is better. The only song I truly dislike is 'Air Balloon' though, the other songs would sit fine on an album if it had some better material on it too.

I am still a bit worried though because Lily's best songs usually are her singles

I think in this case it's gonna be right the opposite. Check out I Don't Mind Babe and Stop Right There, both failed to make it Sheezus, most probably because of the label.

And now she praises her in pretty awful songs.

Lily isn't universally known herself nowadays let alone her humor.

To equate Katy's sound to something that powerful is high praise as far as I'm concerned.
