Thriller did more than sales it changed the game for african american artists with that said it did have impact.
Beyonce released an album without warning and was able to pull it off in the digital era which is impressive.

Her release made it thought provoking on how to release albums as an entire collective in a time where people buy single songs. She is bringing thought on how albums in the digital era should be sold.

Both made an impact in their own way and some of you look silly trying to downplay the other.
Sales should not be brought up as times have changed and album sales are pretty bad right now. Not to mention you can download songs off the net or pick apart albums off iTunes and grab only some songs.

Thriller by far. BEYONCÉ's non-traditional release has had impact on the music industry, but that's really about all I've seen so far. Great album, but what other impact has it had in comparison to what Thriller has made?

Don't you think it's a bit premature to make this thread considering that one is over 30 years old and the other hasn't even crossed the six-month mark yet?

--have an iconic song that'll resurge in popularity every year,
--win multiple Grammys in one night, including general field ones,
--have songs that will go on to be used for sampling for years to come,
--be remembered 30+ years after its released and still be a strong catalog seller
--become a blueprint for music video standards,
--become the album that yields the most top ten singles in Billboard history.
