I don't know if it had anything to do with location...but where I'm from (urban environment), B'Day was a HUGE success. You could not turn on the radio without hearing Irreplaceable, Deja Vu, and Upgrade U. BET and MTV had the videos in constant rotation. I even remember my 6th grade teacher being offended by "I can do for you what Martin did for the people" lyric in Upgrade U...I remember Ring The Alarm was everybody's ringtone lmfao. My old ass Aunties would show me their "Freekum Dresses" LOL. Check On It was a hood anthem. And DO NOT get me started on Get Me Bodied! Everyone SPRANG up at the cookouts, birthday parties, and baby showers to do the sizzle toe and Naomi Campbell walk. I mean it was everywhere. Sis, it was a pretty spectacular era
