Well Applause was leaking, gurl had to do something. That was just the beginning of the mess known as the ARTPOP era.
Also, why is it that Gaga never gets ask these questions when she does radio interviews, but Katy is always ask this? Mainly talking about their alleged "feud".

Because she lost. She could start a shitstorm rant, but the worst Katy could say would be like "oh Thank you, it's not a competition" which is basically what she's been saying since last summer now.
Roar was written by 4 songwriters and produced by teen bop kings; Dr. Luke AND Max Martin.
Applause was written AND produced by Gaga and the (essentially indie) DJWS (who honestly, can't hold a candle to Luke/Martin's success)
So why is this an argument? Applause never stood a chance when it was compared to a song written and produced by a team of GP friendly producers. An anthem for middle school girls, no less.
If Gaga wanted to sell more, she wouldn't have made a song about "Koons" and "art/popculture" which you cannot deny was brave on her end (especially since it wasn't used to gain massive sales).
It's much easier to have a hit song written and produced by hit makers, so the only comparison I understand is the fact that they're pop stars who released songs the same week.

I agree compared to applause roar was a sure hit and applause wasn't. But that's gagas fault for not releasing something that can compete.
