To be fair though all she did was remove his lyrics from the bridge and just added some runs. I love Bey, but if he was trying to use examples that painted her in a favorable light as a collaborative songwriter, that was kind of a poor one since that bridge is just her singing some runs instead of the lyrics he originally had in there.

At the end of the day though, Halo and XO are two of her greatest songs and something about her work with Ryan just seems to click. Whatever level of contribution she has or hasn't had in any of her songwriting aside, she has made some fantastic and iconic music. People just need to let some of these old complaints die already.

Not really. Most people simply don't understand how advanced Beyoncé is as a vocal producer. They don't understand that the musicianship that is required to be able to create amazing melodies and harmonies with no aiding music / varying types of tracks is at a virtuosic level.

As people gain intellect they will understand that Bey should not be compared to the other pop girls.

Yeah, that's what doesn't make sense about these credits. These types of adlibs/runs don't really qualify as melody otherwises everybody who add these runs would get a songwriting credit to pre written songs. And obviously that's not the case.

Beyonce is no Mariah Carey. She may arrange her harmonies but many of her songs seem to be pre-written, so she wasn't involved in their melodic creation.

But is making the melody of a small part of the song really worthy of getting the first writing credit? I still don't see how this info is helping the argument that she writes a lot
